I'll keep you updated on the Iran vs. The West on a special section of this blog. All information from this blog on Iran and its nuclear weapons will be provided by the New York Times.

During he course of writing these blog on Nuclear Weapons I've learn allot. One thing that I have learned was America was the first country to produce and use this devastating weapon. We used it during the cold war on Hiroshima and Nagasaki when they bombed Pearl Harbor. I've also learn about the materials used to produce this weapon. These are Uranium, Plutonium, Lithium, Tritium and Heavy Water. If you need and want to know more about the things used to produce Nuclear Weapon you could read my third blog Inside Nuclear Weapon.

Another thing that I learn that I find quite shocking is what could happen if the U.S was hit by a nuclear weapon. For example the number of lives that will be lost those close to the nuclear strike will be vaporize while many will be blind after seen the bright light from the explosion. After that they will be the sonic boom will make a loud sound that will shake buildings. It will be like a earthquake causing building to collapsed. If you are trap in the rubble and try to use your cell phone or any electronic device forget it because due to the EMP all electronics will not work.

I feel that the government is doing its fair deal when it comes to nuclear weapon but I feel that we can do more. Take for example we can try to get more country that haven't signed the Comprehensive- Nuclear-Test -Ban Treaty or the Non- Proliferation Treaty to try and do so. These treaties will help stop the usage of nuclear weapons in wars and also stop the spread of nuclear weapons. India, North Korea and Pakistan are some of the countries with nuclear weapons that have not signed it. I found this shocking because if there is a war they can use it. Before the creation of this blog I did not know that they were treaty about nuclear weapon. The government should try to spread the word to Americans and People around the word to let them know that their is a treaty to stop the spread and usage of nuclear weapons. That will help because the people living in countries will nuclear weapons that have not signed the treaty could try to convince their country to do so.

This topic have helped me better understand government in that i learned about treaties about nuclear weapon. I've also learned that the government stands on nuclear weapon and most importantly keep up on current events. Below i will keep you updated on any info on Iran and its nuclear weapons.

IRAN VS THE WEST

Germany is now against Iran Nuclear Program according to the New York Times.

2010 New Year<--- More Expences and Conflict

Previously on my blogs I've talk about nuclear weapon and its harms. These weapons come with a price from conflicts to money. Its 2010, the Iran vs. the west conflict is still going on. Mr. Obama and other world powers will try to use strategy to get Iran to comply with the United Nations demand. In one of my past blogs I've talk about this demand. To refresh your memory, the United Nation wants Iran to stop making and producing nuclear fuel. The reason for this is because they fear that Iran will produce nuclear weapons. Previously in 2009, the United Nation propose an agreement saying that Iran will ship out materials and byproduct that it have previously produce in secret. According to the agreement Iran claims that they have no intention in making a nuclear weapon but instead make nuclear fuel. The agreement was for the product to be ship to Russia until it reaches the level that it can be used for nuclear fuel then it will be ship back to Iran. At first we taught the conflict was resolve when Iran accepts the term and condition but they later rejected it. Today it’s still hard to convince Iran to give up on producing of nuclear product like enrich uranium since Iran top political and military leader don't want to stop the production. Other problems have stirred up between Iran and the production of enrich Uranium where the machines used to produce the enrich uranium have technical problem. Some Europeans officials believed that these so call technical problems were willfully set by the west to stop Iran from continue its production. It will take Iran some time from 16-18 months before they actually have a breakout plan. That gives the U.S and the West 18 months and improves its strategy. Problems and trying to come out with suggestion for these problems are still in progress and the U.S and Western powers are still trying to come out with an agreement about Iran nuclear progress.

Mr. Obama is spending over 101.1 billion dollar for the operation and withdrawal of all of the U.S forces in Iran by August. They are also purchasing armored vehicle to prevent American troop from loosing their lives in road side bombs.

Sources
http://www.defencetalk.com/us-senate-approves-2010-military-budget-23484/http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/03/world/middleeast/03iran.html?pagewanted=2&sq=iran%20nuclear&st=cse&scp=4

New Year: Foiling and Preventing Nuclear Attacks

Ever since the President of the United States, Mr. Obama took office he has made stopping the spread of Nuclear Weapons a main priority. He did it through various treaties and plans to continue his campaign against nuclear weapon in 2010. According to The New York Times the Obama administration will make terrorist trying to get nuclear weapon a main priority for central strategic nuclear planning. They plan to counter terrorist who plan to use weapons like rudimentary bombs. Rudimentary bombs are dangerous to mainly to Americans troops fighting abroad in Iran , Iraq and Afghanistan. The reason this bomb is so dangerous is could be hidden in trash bins and also be bury at the end of the roads. The Obama Administration also plans to prevent stolen warheads or dangerous devices for getting into the wrong hands through hostile states and other countries. That is one of the reason I feel that many nations around the world is against Iran right to make nuclear weapons.

Previously in my past blogs I've written on some of the effects of a nuclear strike on American and other countries in the world. At the impact zone they will be a flash of light and a mushroom cloud coming out of it. Those who are caught in the impact zone will be vaporize and killed instantly. Since light travels faster than sound the light from the impact zone will reach before the loud vibration from the sound. The light wouldn't be their only problem, upon seeing the light many of the people would suffer from temporary and permanent blindness. Imagine driving a car where you cannot see what is going on around you that would be a reality for some. Now that the light has passed you here comes the loud sound while will make buildings collapse. If you are trap and need help you can't use your telephone because of the EMP meaning all electronics within the EMP zone would stop working.

The Nuclear Posture Preview will affect how warheads are developed by the department of Energy and the department of Defense according to The New York Times. They are trying to maintain less money spending on modernizing bombers, missiles and submarines and other weapons. These and other thing the Obama administration and Nuclear Posture Review are planning to accomplish in 2010.

Sources
1)http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/19/us/politics/19nuke.html?_r=1&scp=4&sq=nuclear%20weapons&st=cse
2) http://thewe.cc/thewei/_/images11/us_war_crimes/nuclear_testing.jpe

Cutting Down Nuclear Weapons

President Obama and the president of Russia, Dmitri A. Medvedev has signed an agreement to cut down the Nuclear weapon for America and Russia by a quarter. That is a major step because America and Russia are leading the world in Nuclear Weapons. America and Russia have a total of more that twenty thousand nuclear weapon so cutting down quarter of that would be a great step forward in stopping the spread and even ending nuclear weapon in the future. Hopefully more countries with nuclear weapon will come forward and cut its nuclear arsenal.

According to the New York Times , "Mr Obama hailed the arms agreement as an example for the world as he pursued a broader agenda aiming at countering and eventually eliminating the spread of nuclear weapon, a goal he hopes to make a defining legacy on his presidency." I feel that President Obama can accomplish this at the end of his presidency because he has down allot in his first year when it comes to Nuclear Weapon.

The president of Russia and the president of America are working together to help fight weapon in places like North Korea and Iran.

Iran vs The West

Recently if you look on the television and read the newspaper one topic will keep getting your attention. This topic is Iran right to make nuclear weapon. We have just found out a couple months ago that Iran has nuclear plants that they have been keeping secret from us. So do you think that Iran should have the right to build and manufacture nuclear weapon? I personally do not think that they should have the right and I'm not the only one that thinks so. Six world powers realize that Iran should not have this right and one of these world powers is America. In order to stop or "slow down," Iran right to make nuclear weapon these six world powers have come up with a proposal. Under this proposal Iran would export all of its uranium to Russia and France so it can be converted into fuel rods which will be return to Iran within a year. This sounds great to me because since the president of Iran said that his country have no interest of producing nuclear weapon it will all work out. Iran agree to the proposal only to disagree and said that it is not ready to transport most of its enrich Uranium in one large shipment and wait years for it to convert to fuel rods. I feel that this conflict will last a while because Iran keep going back on its word. Iran claims that it does not trust the west because they have break past promises. One of these promise is to supply Iran technology. Iran feels that the west will not give back the fuel rods if it gives its enrich uranium. Diplomats said that Iran needs to be more open about its nuclear program.

Russia and China two of the world powers call for the U.N to be tougher to Iran for refusing to freeze its enrichment program. The Iranian president said that his nation would produce a higher grade of nuclear fuel on its own. The president of Iran said that despite warning from the U.N and world powers. Iran have also violated a treaty that cit signed years ago. This treaty was the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. This treaty limits the spread of nuclear weapon around the world. The president of Iran claims that they are producing nuclear fuel for civilian use. Uranium is needed for nuclear fuel and nuclear weapon. Uranium enriched at twenty percent can fuel a reactor and at ninety percent can make a nuclear weapon. A Representative from the institute of Science and International security said that Iran don't know how to turn the enrich material into safe reactor fuel. I feel that since they don't know how to turn it into fuel why bother fighting and going against the U.N and the world powers. Just agree to the proposal given by the six world powers.

Sources
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2009/11/24/world/AP-Iran-Nuclear.html?scp=10&sq=nuclear%20weapon&st=cse

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/03/world/middleeast/03nuke.html?scp=2&sq=nuclear%20weapons&st=cse

Recycling: Nuclear Weapon

Recycling is key in ensuring and preventing global warming. Global warming is cause by greenhouse gases escaping into our atmosphere. This have some negative effects on our planet. For example the greenhouse gases gets trap into our atmosphere causing a increase temperature. Global warming does not only affect us but the environment and the animals living in it. Take for example the melting of the polar icecaps in Antarctica causing the hunting ground of the polar bear is disappearing making the polar bear cut by two third in 2050 according to the polar bears international.

So what can we do to help prevent global warming? One of the main things we can do is Recycle. This is exactly what U.S is doing to help power about ten percent of electricity in the United States. They are recycling dismantled nuclear bomb from both from the U.S and Russia. This is a good thing because it help put the unwanted nuclear weapon to good use. Treaties after the cold war lead to the disbarment of thousand of war heads. This is a problem though because if more uranium isn't secure soon the pipe could run dry that would cause those ten percent of Americans that get electricity to loose it. That is why those plants and Americans that relayed on this power source are hoping that there will be a new nuclear arms treaty. That will ensure the continuation of electricity by disarming nuclear weapon. Russia old nuclear bombs account for forty five percent of the fuels in American nuclear reactor while only five percent comes from America Bombs.

President Obama and the President of Russia both agree to limit the number of delivery vehicle and the number of warheads in their arsenal. The both agree to limit the number of delivery to one thousand one hundred and the number of war heads to fifteen hundred. In total about thirty four tons are to be recycle making it possible to generate electricity for millions of Americans home for fifty years.

Sources
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/10/business/energy-environment/10nukes.html?scp=1&sq=nuclear%20weapon&st=cse

Organization

The organization I'm writing to is known as the Greenpeace. The Greenpeace is one of the best organization out their when it comes to going green and helping the planet. By helping the planet that means cutting down nuclear waste. In order to do this they would need to help stop the making of nuclear weapon. Nuclear weapon need plutonium as one of their main products and the production of such a product means more nuclear waste and the creation of "dirty bombs."

Here is a quote that I got from their website "Greenpeace has always fought - and will continue to fight - vigorously against nuclear power because it is an unacceptable risk to the environment and to humanity. The only solution is to halt the expansion of all nuclear power, and for the shutdown of existing plants." I applaud them for their effort to stop the "nuclear age." I've recently message them with a question "What your organization is doing to help stop the spread and manufacturing of nuclear weapon?" Their reprehensive did not give me a direct answer but she did give me some info that I found really interested. She said "Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organization that acts to change attitudes and behavior, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. It comprises 28 independent national/regional offices in over 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating body, Greenpeace International." I feel that in order to stop the spread of nuclear weapon you need to unite countries with is exactly what Greenpeace is doing. I would like them to keep it up so that one day the world would be "nuclear free."

I would like to thank Karen Gallagher ( Public Outreach and Information Greenpeace International) for replying to my question.

Fore more info you could check out their website at: http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/nuclearinternational/campaigns/nuclear.

Letter to Representative

Far Rockaway Office,
1931 Mott, Ave Far Rockaway.
New York 11691-4103
Phone: (718)-327-9797
Fax: (718)- 327- 4722

The Honorable Gregory Meeks,

I am writing you concerning the topic of nuclear weapon. I am against the use of nuclear weapon and i applause you for your effort of rejecting Iran right to produce nuclear weapon. The use of nuclear weapon is a topic that should not be taken lightly. The reason I'm writing this letter is to ask you this question "What is our government doing to help protect us from future nuclear conflicts or even a nuclear war." It seems the government is doing its fair deal when it comes to securing nuclear weapon but I feel like we could do more. Take for example the Non- Proliferation Treaty. The main purpose of this treaty is to limit the spread of nuclear weapon. I feel that this treaty have been forgotten because it have been years since a country with nuclear weapon signed the treaty. India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea have not signed the treaty as of yet.

Another treaty that I would like to bring to your attention is the Comprehensive- Nuclear-Test -Ban Treaty. It seems that a few countries that have nuclear weapon have not signed it. These countries include India North Korea and Pakistan. I would like to know what America and other countries that have nuclear weapon that have sign the treaty is doing to persuade India, Pakistan and North Korea to sign it. I urge you to try and have a meeting with the countries that have not sign the two treaty mention above to try and convince then into doing so. It would not only benefit Americans but the World.

Sincerely,
Abdool Javid Jabbar.

N- Waste !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Previously in my blogs I've talk to you about the harmful effect of nuclear weapon from the radiation being giving off to the E.M.P which all comes when a nuclear weapon explodes. I'm also talk to you about what would happen if nuclear weapons fall in the wrong hand. Today I'll also talk where nuclear waste are stored or dumped. Nuclear waste is the waste left over from a nuclear weapon, nuclear reactors and nuclear research projects. Waste from a nuclear plant is primarily a solid waste, and some process chemicals, steam, and heated cooling water. One of the primary sources of nuclear waste are nuclear reactor. The thing that makes nuclear waste suck a problem is the radiation it gives off. It could be dangerous if you are ever expose directly to it without proper safety clothes.

Nuclear waste can have a negative effect on the environment in the way that it could be toxic and dangerous to plant and animal. The waste that is most dangerous to the animal and plants is the solid waste. That is why the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is trying to push for a regulation that would govern the nuclear waste in the United States for the next million years. The reason is no one can predict what the world would look like in such a long period of time. A million years is a long period of time and know one know the changes that would happen. If we are going to keep producing nuclear waste or even have nuclear waste in the future or if we are going to have a new power source in the future that would be great not for us but for the environment. That is a gamble that the EPA is going for but if it works out nuclear waste would be regulated and would not pose a treat to the environment.

Nuclear waste is a serous problem because it could get into our water source. The half life of materials use to make nuclear weapon materials are very long. That means if there is a dumping site of nuclear weapon and it rains, the nuclear waste can get into your water source. The nuclear waste can last as long as one thousand years before it come out of your system. The government is trying to solve the problem of nuclear waste but it is quite difficult. The reason is , the government is trying to find new nuclear waste sites but people don't want nuclear waste near then and i don't blame them. Here is a list where you can see some of the nuclear plant sites according to cqs.

Haddam Neck, Haddam Neck, CT

Maine Yankee, Wiscasset, ME

Millstone, Waterford, CT

Pilgrim (Boston Edison), Plymouth, MA

Seabrook, Seabrook, NH

Vermont Yankee, Vernon, VT

Yankee Rowe (Yankee Atomic), Rowe

Inside Nuclear Weapon

As you have read from my previous blog post nuclear weapon are weapons of mass destruction which can be very deadly in the wrong hand. Imagine if a Terrorist group got a hold of a nuclear weapon. Can you imagine the destructive nature if they detonate a nuclear weapon in America. All the lives that will be lost. Nuclear weapon explodes inwards making the explosion an implosion. At the impact zone those who see the cloud would be vaporize within seconds while those further away would see a flash of light. The light wouldn't be their only problem, upon seeing the light many of the people would suffer from temporary and permanent blindness. Imagine driving a car where you cannot see what is going on around you, which would be a reality for some. Since light travels faster that sound you will see the light first then a couple minute later you would hear a loud sound like noting that you have ever heard before. Upon the sound the building that you are in would collapsed and they would be no calling for help since the electromagnetic pulse (EMP). EMP is an after effect of a nuclear weapon meaning all electronics within the EMP zone would stop working.

I know what your thinking what kind of materials is use to put together a weapon of this magnitude. Well they are 5 main materials used to put together a weapon of this scale which are Uranium, Plutonium, Lithium, Tritium and Heavy Water. Uranium is a heavy silver metal which is more plentiful that mercury, silver ,ECT. Working and trying to contain uranium is very dangerous because uranium can burst out in flames if it is expose to air. Another of the material used to produce nuclear weapon is Plutonium. Plutonium exists in small quantities in naturally occurring uranium ores. It is a key ingredient in making Nuclear Weapon. One kilogram of plutonium is equivalent to about 22 million kilowatt hours of heat energy and a kilogram of plutonium produces an explosion equal to about 20,000 tons of chemical explosive. That explains where a nuclear weapon got its destructive nature from. Lithium is another ingredient in the production of nuclear weapon. Lithium is a very low dense weapon. It is even more dense that water. After World War 2 the production of lithium have greatly increase because it is needed to make nuclear weapon. Tritium is a key ingredent in making nuclea weapon mainly because essential to the construction of boosted fission nuclear weapons. A boosted weapon contains a mixture of deuterium and tritium being heated and compressed by the detonation of plutonium. It also help adds to the explosive nature of the nuclear weapon.

And since the arm race between the Solvit Union and the United State the production of nuclear weapon and the ingredient use to produce nuclear weapon have greatly increase which can be shown by the current nuclear weapons in the world. As you can see nuclear weapon is made up of some pretty destructive materials that can be very dangerous if it falls in the wrong hand especially thouse who wants to use the weapon for destruction and to cause chaos.

Sources

http://www.fas.org/nuke/intro/nuke/index.html

Why do we need Nuclear Weapon?

Why do we need nuclear weapon? I think this is a question that we should all ask our self. Since the invention of nuclear weapon it has caused nothing but destruction and the lost of mission of lives. The United States was the first country to developed and use nuclear weapon. Since the invention and use of nuclear weapon by the US they have been an armed race between the US and Russia. We developed this weapon to use in World War 2 against Japan. During that time it seem like a good idea because we were at war but allot of innocent people in Japan lost their lives because of this destructive weapon. In this two strike over two hundred plus people lost their lives in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

When working and handling of nuclear weapon there are allot of things that can go wrong. Take for example an accident that has recently occurred this year. According to the New York Times two nuclear missile submarines collided under the Atlantic Ocean. They were both armed with a total of more than one hundred thermonuclear warheads. This helps bring up question about how many nuclear weapon are being produce and how accidents can happen. Imagine if those weapons would have gone off and exploded by the impact. Think about all the lives lost and imagine if the collision and explosion would have happen close to land. All those people would have been vaporized and animals and plants would have been wiped out. Fortunately it did not exploded because it would have killed more that one mission people. It's scary to know that their are over tens and twenty of thousand of nuclear weapon in the world enough to destroy the entire planed three time in.

I feel that we should stop the construction of nuclear weapon for the safety of all and to have a better future. There would be no future if all those weapon fall into the hands of someone with an evil intent or if those weapon accidently exploded because of an unknown reason. It would mark a Doomsday for all animals and plant.

Introduction to Nuclear Weapons

There are allot of things to talk about when it comes to nuclear weapons and there are allot of question that you should ask yourself about this topic. Take for example, why do we need nuclear weapons? What are the materials used to put together a nuclear weapon? How many nuclear weapons are there on our planet? Did u know that there is enough Nuclear Weapon on our planet to blow up the earth three times? There is allot of things that can go wrong when working with nuclear weapon. Did you know that the United States was the first country to develop and used a nuclear weapon? We used it during the cold war on Hiroshima and Nagasaki when they bombed Pearl Harbor. To show the destructive power of the weapon in that one incident it killed over two hundred and twenty thousand people. One hundred and forty thousand people in Hiroshima and eighty thousand in Nagasaki. Although nuclear weapon are destructive the thing that made them so dangerous are the after effect and the range of the weapon. Some of these effect would be radiation, thermal and EMP or electromagnetic pulse. These are some of the topics and information that you would be able to see and access from my blog. I would also be talking more on the effects, testing, and production of nuclear weapon.

Some of the information gather on this blog are from:http://www.fas.org/nuke/intro/nuke/index.html http://www.cdi.org/nuclear/database/nukestab.html
http://http/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_weapon_design
